Description
Wagakki Band is an eight-member Japanese group known for their unique style fusing shigin (recitation of Japanese and Chinese poems) and wagakki (Japanese musical instruments) with Western rock—and sometimes even Vocaloid songs—for a combination you are unlikely to forget. This okedo-daiko features a design by Kurona, the group’s wadaiko expert. Made by WPS, it is 22.4” in diameter with a 23.6” to 27.6” body length, which is 3.9” longer than that of a usual okedo-daiko. With its 10 kg, it is also lighter than those seen at festivals. The drumheads are made of buffalo skin, making them suitable for low sounds. The shirabe purple rope holding the skin not only reflects the band’s style, but it can also be used to adjust the sound depending on how it’s tied. Another one of its main features is the original Kurona design including the band’s name featured both on the heads and the body. The drumstick bag goes without saying, but this special piece also comes with a custom-made pedestal and an original instructional video to make sure you put this beautiful wadaiko to good use!
